Glen Rene Roberts Obituary Former Maplewood Resident, Has Died

Glen Rene Roberts Obituary, Death Cause – After a courageous struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Glen Rene Roberts, Sr., 66, of Maplewood, passed away on June 30, 2023 while cradled in the arms of his loving wife. In Cohoes, on May 8, 1957, Glen was brought into the world by his parents, Rene Alfred Roberts and Thelma Ciaccia. After receiving his diploma from Ballston Spa High School in 1975, he proceeded to sign up for service in the United States Army. After serving for three years, he was offered his first job with Cargill as a mechanic, where he remained employed for the next 28 years.

After meeting his future wife, Patty, in elementary school, he wed her in 1979, and the couple went on to have two lovely children together: April and Glen Jr. Glen Sr. was known to be a man of few words and he chose to display his affection for his family by laboring tirelessly on their behalf. Throughout the years, he worked many jobs, put in for overtime, and did whatever else was necessary to provide for his family and make sure that they had all they required.

Glen Sr. was able to capitalize on his enthusiasm for dirt racing thanks to the fact that one of the jobs he held involved working at Fonda Speedway as a member of the first Teal Suit Team. He had a lot of fun watching the races and making sure everyone was safe over the past 15 years. Following his departure from Cargill, he began working for the Town of Colonie, where he would remain until his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2020 forced him to retire after 18 years on the job.
